Work or play?

Do you like sunny days? If like me you do, what do you do about work in this more home-based situation when the sun is out and we live so near to the beach?

I have been using the less clement days this week to try and get a little ahead so I can enjoy more sun hours (at weekends and in the evening) when they come back. I suspect some of you reading this, may well be doing the same.

There have been no CDC meetings this week, and Donna has had no parish ones either, which has been helpful because I have had several extra school-related ones and the regular school and council workload cannot be ignored.

There are some things CDC have passed on that might interest you.

I told you about the Support Local initiative and the detailed government guidance to help businesses prepare to reopen last week, and previously shared the signage CDC have made available to assist. You can look back to learn more or click here for CDC's business support and advice page.

The Chichester Farmers' Market is back (in the Cattle Market Car Park to facilitate social distancing.) It will be there on the first and third Friday of each month from 9am to 2pm. The next one is a week today, June 19th.

CDC are working with Public Health England to advise businesses and voluntary groups of the potential for Legionnaires' Disease, a type of pneumonia, in water systems that have been fully or partially closed during the lockdown. Please bear in mind there is a legal duty under the Health and Safety Act of 1974 and associated Regulations to assess, prevent and control these risks and take suitable precautions to protect anyone who enters your premises. CDC's Health Protection team have published a range of advice here.

There has sadly been around two tons of commercial waste fly-tipped elsewhere in our District. Please remember to avoid using companies or individuals that cannot show you their current licence. There is more information here.

Happier news, this time from Stagecoach: from Monday their app will let you know how full each bus is so if you use them, and have a smartphone, download it. The maximum number allowed is eleven passengers on a single decker, and twenty on a double. You can read more about this here.

As always, stay safe

Tim
