You may have read about the refusal of an application for a Gypsy Traveller site in Selsey. The applicant wanted to change the permitted use of some unused commercial land. After Selsey Town Council and over 200 residents objected to the loss of potential employment space, a report confirmed that there had been no such interest. Subsequently, a potential developer contacted us. Donna, as a member of CDC’s Planning Committee, has to stay neutral; I secured a short delay for Officers to ascertain if this was a genuine commercial interest. As you can see the loss of employment land formed part of their decision to refuse. Obviously, the applicant can appeal.
Also in the news is the defeat of our proposal for a Peninsula Recovery Group. Donna and I want to thank those of you who continue to share your disappointment with us. Last weekend we were photographed for the Chichester Observer who featured the story online and in print. You may have seen Spirit FM also ran it.
We were saddened to learn that someone exempt from wearing a face covering had recently been made unwelcome in a local shop. Ironically, CDC have asked for the full Government guidance to be shared to avoid this happening, so please point people here or do so yourself.
Finally, we also need to share with you: -
The Tangmere Military Aviation Museum reopens on Monday, with suitable measures in place for your safety;
The Novium have produced this video to show you the safety measures they have put in place;
If you saw BBC’s Countryfile featuring Chichester Harbour you will know that this is National Marine Week 2020;
A rogue trader, who did some work on their roof, was jailed after conning a Pulborough woman and her son out of £6500 - you can find a Trading Standards approved trader by using this website;
If you can, please eat out to help out: these are some of the local places you can choose from.
As always, stay safe
