Autumn is...
Have you heard about
the Great British September Clean? After a busy summer of staycationers, our
beaches could use a bit of extra TLC this year. So if you are interested in
organising a clean-up, or just helping out, details can be found here.
The recent “Indian
Summer” is gently fading and in the next week we are forecast to transition
gradually to cooler, more traditional, autumnal weather. That is generally when
many of us switch from sun-seeking to enjoying a nice walk. If that's you,
Sussex Live have recently recommended eleven beautiful walks in Sussex you
might like to try - click to learn more.
There is a new
walking course to help residents improve their health and wellbeing. It has
been launched by Chichester Wellbeing 01243 521041. They also offer other services so a look at
their website, or a phone call, could be worthwhile.
Walking can also
benefit others as this recent
heartwarming story about fundraising for the Howard Ward of St Richards. This is St.
Richard's paediatric ward which we, as a family, have personal experience of.
We all hope that we will never have cause to spend time there but, for
those of us who do,not only can we be assured our children will receive
excellent care but, the staff there do everything they possibly can to make our
time there as tolerable as possible. You may have seen, or
taken part yourself, in another recent fundraising walk, which this time was
for St Wilfrid's hospice.
You can click here to learn more
about, and take part in, the consultation on the new Local Cycling and Walking
Infrastructure Plan for Chichester City Centre which closes on October
19.
Everyone our team
speaks to is concerned about the health and financial impacts of the pandemic.
Yesterday I came across the King's College London Symptom Tracker app, which is helping to
give a fuller picture of what's going on 'on the ground' because over 4 million
people have downloaded it.
Lastly, this Tuesday, Donna and I have the next
Full meeting of Chichester District Council. You can watch it live from 2pm by clicking here. You can also view the agenda by
clicking here. You may remember that our proposal
for a Peninsula Recovery Group was defeated at the last meeting in July. We are
assessing the ongoing local economic impact of Covid-19 as Autumn unfolds and
have started work on building a consensus on where to take things from here.
As always, stay safe
