view & a half
Whenever you look out of the window or go for a walk, do you ever think how lucky we are to be living where we do? We have some lovely coastal and inland walks, plus, whenever I compare postcodes using the Government’s data dashboard, I realise our proportion of Covid cases is significantly lower than more urbanised areas.
Many of you were grateful that we made the first West Sussex vaccination briefing available to you in our last post, so here is the second one. We will continue to do this for as long as they come our way.
This week Donna and I had an in-person Councillor briefing about the vaccination rollout across the County from the NHS Sussex Health and Care Partnership. We also had other meetings including the District Economic and Organisational recovery teams. Next week, Donna has some Selsey Town Council Meetings, we will both be at their Planning Committee on Wednesday and I also have CDC’s Corporate Governance and Audit Committee plus a Budget meeting. We also have an update on progress with the emerging Local Plan, and you can watch us and the rest of the District Council on Tuesday.
Do you know someone struggling with the recent cold weather? It can
affect your health quite badly. The people most likely to be affected are the
elderly, the very young, and people with pre-existing medical conditions. Some
advice recently came my way, so I thought I should share it:
- Heat
your home to at least 18⁰C;
- Keep
moving – regular activity keeps you feeling warmer;
- Wear multiple layers of clothes inside and outside.
Finally: -
- West
Sussex are using discretionary powers to fund Free Entitlement places in
pre-schools, nurseries and childminders until February Half Term;
- CDC
have just shared this updated Community Guide; there are also
new Government schemes to help local businesses
during the current lockdown;
- CDC are regularly inspecting supermarkets and other essential businesses to make sure that they are Covid-Secure and help drive down infection rates.
As always from the whole Team, stay safe
Tim
