A Different View

 

Do you like eating out sometimes, and not having to cook? If so, some local places have been gaining some good news coverage:  East Wittering is being recommended to readers in Hampshire while Arundel is gaining more acclaim.  Also, Masala City in Chichester has been named Restaurant of the Year at the 2021 English Curry Awards 

Before the Government U-turn, the passage of the Environment Bill featured heavily in the news and led to widespread outcry about so many MPs (including ours) voting to allow the continued pumping of sewage into rivers and the sea. Water-related matters were also a significant item of discussion at our latest LA get-together, along with development across the Peninsula, cuts to family services and the impact on elderly people of reductions in intermediate care facilities. Donna managed to get a question in about this to the relevant Cabinet Member at West Sussex, last week, and we await the final decision about the closure of Marjorie Cobby House which will be taken in November.

In recent posts, we have mentioned tree planting, a subject important to many of us. This Enterprise might interest you because they believe that the affordable solution to global warming and CO2 reduction is to plant one trillion trees. 

Some of you may be fans of Game of Thrones. If you did watch it you may remember the tall female knight, played by Gwendolene Christie. It turns out she is from West Sussex and after many roles is finally starring in a new series, The Sandman, on Netflix. 

West Sussex are advising us all to stay safe this Halloween and avoid spreading Covid-19. Although I have no meetings this coming week, Donna has Planning at CDC on Wednesday which is an in-person public meeting at East Pallant House and County Council meetings.
