Drinking it in

Thank you to everyone who accepted our invitation to get in touch last week and was so positive. Like you, we are ordinary residents, who value our community and we very much welcome contact.    We were interested to read this week that Premier Inn has crunched data from Pinterest and Google, and the top trending beach this year is West Wittering.  We were interested to read this week that Premier Inn has crunched data from Pinterest and Google, and the top trending beach this year is West Wittering.  There has recently been some good news for Sussex winegrowers. We can all now have a glass of Sussex as an alternative to a glass of Champagne or Prosecco. You may not realise that the Tinwood Estate’s vineyards are nearby and, since the first planting in 2007, have established a reputation for producing the very finest English sparkling wines. Unlike vines, a plant you should avoid is Giant Hogweed. It can cause blisters and, more worryingly, blindness i...

What a Day

A Belated, Happy Sussex Day!   We want to start this week by thanking all of you who got in touch after our last post. There were three particu;arly interesting ones:  was Stephanie from New Hampshire missing our locally-grown strawberries, Steve who suggested a change of link colour and Joe who got in touch with Mick, appropriately on the day many of our young people sat their second English GCSE paper, to ask us to include more semicolons. We mentioned food again last week as hunger is an increasing concern everywhere. This week we learnt Lidl have launched a new range of products badged “Good to Give” to help shopper...

We want to begin by thanking those of you who make the time to read our blog when you are abroad. Our last post had a reader in Spain, two in Sweden and a lady in the US, who messaged me from Chichester, Pennsylvania. We network with other hyper-locals in the UK (remember there are 349 registered local Groups) but have not thought about other countries, so. If you come across any potentials, please let us know. Whilst talking about forging links, Donna and I pop over to the Isle of Wight quite a lot, and have previously mentioned that hunger is an increasing concern everywhere, particularly when children are on holiday and no longer get a free lunch. In Ventnor one cafe took action in readiness for the recent Half Term . You may have read that Food Banks fear a surge in demand they may not be able to meet this Summer. (according to Sky News one already has ) Don't forget you can help by getting in touch with local orgnisations like Selsey’s Full Up or play a part in Tea fo...
